Sponged Shatter Nail Art
Posted by Erin on 9/28/11. Filed under: japanese nail art, opi, shatter, spongingToday I have some nail art to show you. This isn't typical of my normal designs, mostly because I almost never use shatter/crackle. It's not that I don't like it....it's just that I don't love it. But the trend shows no signs of dying anytime soon, so i may as well embrace it to the best of my ability.
Here's the result of a sponged nail using 4 different colors with a thick coat of black shatter over it.
What's your favorite backdrop for a crackle polish? I'm trying to find some new and interesting techniques to use since I'm not a huge fan of the "standard crackle look". Any advice or tips?

I like it. It's a good way to hide a failed nail design if that should ever happen!

I'm with you. I never got into the crackle craze. It just wasn't for me. I do sort of feel bad for OPI. They came out with the idea and then an entire flood of duplicates. XD;

It just seems sloppy to me I guess. And so many of them don't work right. The white shatter is HORRIBLE! And I don't understand why so many people love the silver shatter. It barely cracks and it looks like shit, tbh.
To be fair though, I think it was Cover Girl who started crackle back in the 90s but it never really took off so they stopped making it. Then a few years ago OPI noticed that a lot of us polish addicts started looking for the old CG crackles on ebay so they started producing their own version. It's covergirl that should be sad haha.
