Deborah Lippmann - Across the Universe

Pools of sorrow
Waves of joy
Are drifting through my open mind
Possessing and caressing me...
I had to have this. Across the Universe is one of my favorite songs of all time, and hands down my favorite Beatles song. I probably would have wanted it even if it were hideously ugly, but thankfully that's not the case.

Color:
A murky blue jelly infused with royal blue micro glitter base, with large pieces of kelly green and sky blue hexagonal glitter. It reminds me a bit of a mermaids shimmering tail. Fucking amazing beyond words.

Application:
ATU applies about as well as any chunky glitter possibly could. It wasn't all that difficult to work with, but needed 4 coats to achieve complete opacity. It dries to a surprisingly semi smooth finish, which shocked the shit out of me. I was really expecting this to be as rough as sandpaper, but instead it's just not entirely smooth. Bonus.

Downside:
Aside from the fact that it takes 4 coats to look like it does in the bottle, I can;t find anything wrong with it.

Bottom Line:
Across the Universe is awesome. And like most of Lippmanns glitters, it's pretty unique. I know that I don't have anything else like this in my collection. It's definitely worth the $18.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
There's a Friday Poll that's been going around the ole' nail blogs for a little while now. I decided to give it a try this week.

1. What’s a nickname only your family calls you?
- It's too embarrassing to admit here :) Which is stupid on my part, because most people would probably find it cute.

2. What’s a weird habit of yours?
Driving with the windows open, whether the AC is on or it's snowing. I cannot drive with the windows rolled up.

3. Do you have any weird phobias?
I'm kind of terrified of falling on the subway tracks. I get some pretty fierce anxiety just by watching people walk along the yellow line that you're supposed to stand behind on the platform.

4. What’s a song you secretly love to blast and belt out when you’re alone?
All of them. I seriously sing constantly.

5. What’s one of your biggest pet peeves?
WHEN PEOPLE CHEW WITH THEIR FUCKING MOUTHS OPEN. I can't even explain the rage that this incites...

6. What’s one of your nervous habits?
My lip starts to sweat. It's pretty embarrassing.

7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?
Left (depending on which way you look at it...)

8. What was your first stuffed animal and its name?
It's a little wool brown teddy bear that winds up in the back and plays music. Never had a name. My grandmother gave it to me the day I was born, and I still have it.

9. What’s the drink you always order at Starbucks?
I hate Starbucks. I'm a Dunkins girl. Iced blueberry with extra cream and 4 splenda.

10. What’s the beauty rule you preach, but never actually practice?
Don't smoke :/

11. Which way do you face in the shower?
Away from the water. How the hell can you build up a lather any other way?

12. Do you have any weird body skills?
Uh...what? I learned to put my legs behind my head from doing yoga. Does that count?

13. What’s your favorite comfort food that’s “bad”, but you love to eat it anyway?
Oh Christ. Tacos, chips, brownies, donuts. What the hell don't I love that sticks to the ribs?

14. What’s a phrase or exclamation you always say?
WHAT THE FUCK! / What a fucking idiot! / What a douche! etc etc etc

15. Time to sleep – what are you actually wearing?
yellow pj pants with rainbows on them and a fitted black t shirt.

Is it really necessary to use profanity to tell how nice this nail polish is? You should think about expanding your vocabulary so you can express yourself without vulgar language. A public blog really isn't the appropriate place.

Hey Anonymous, shut the fuck up.

Being an uppity, audacious, rude asshole (how is that for expanding my vocabulary?) on a blog that does not belong to you is what's inappropriate.

I assume the first 'anon' is some nail blogger that didn't want to post with her real ID. Here's some advice, if this blog doesn't suit you, move on to a different one.

The arrogance of expecting someone else to change their blogging style to one that suits you better, makes me chuckle. there are a million nail blogs, if you don't like this one fuck off to one that's more your style, and take your unwarranted self-importance with you.
